In California Independent Funny Car Association action, the teams got two qualifying runs followed by regular style eliminations.
In the final, it would be Jamie Leppanen, number one qualifier and the president of CIFCA, taking the win when 2008 CIFCA Champion Will Martin was unable to make the call after severe engine damage in his semi-final victory over Paul Peterson.
Will Martin will be sporting the number 1 on his car next season.
Mike Boettcher’s “Wild Thing” qualified 15th and was eliminated in the first round. Nice looking car, though.
