Meredith Smokes ‘Em at Atlanta
The Diesel Hot Rod Association (DHRA) visited Atlanta Dragway Sep. 8, where Kevin Meredith of Bowling Green, KY, earned bragging rights with his 2001 Dodge Ram in the top-ranked AirWerks Pro Street Diesel 10.50 index class. Jim "Lucky Dog" Layden made his long drive from Glenwood City, WI, worthwhile with a final-round win in Diesel Power! Quick Diesel action on a 12.0 index, and K.J. "El Destructo" Kitchens turned the trick in the Diesel Performance Motorsports Shootout for street-driven diesel trucks.
Kevin Meredith (near lane) got his raceday off to a great start by ousting DHRA Pro Street Diesel points leader Phillip Palmer in the opening round Sep. 8, at Atlanta Dragway.
Meredith laid a .019 holeshot on Pelham, GA’s Micky Davis in the Pro Street final and he needed every split second as it spelled the difference in one of the fastest and closest rounds of the day. Meredith's “Caged Fury” pickup went 10.525 at 121.03 to beat Davis, who ran right on the index.
Micky Davis put together a perfect 10.500 at 125.13 mph effort in the Pro Street final, but crossed the top-end stripe a mere .006 seconds behind Meredith.
