Exile Turbo Outlaw 10.5 was dominated by Rich Zehring who ran with the WCHRA for the second time this year. His 7.09 in qualifying bested regulars, Rod Oxford and Slim Zeinaty. With championship leader Oxford struggling with a new tune-up, it was Zeinaty who would face Zehring in the final. A red light handed the win to Zehring but his 7.067 was enough to give the NorCal racer another mark in the record books.
Team Racing Enterprises True 10.5 has been the Hoyle/Holder show with Walt Brock trying to break into the act. So it was again at Famoso. Rich Hoyle put it on pole with a 7.679 but lost in the semis. Roger Holder advanced to the final to face Brock and used an 8.029/182.68 to take another home win.

Team Transit Mix Pro Stock saw the debut of Jon Bundrant’s newly updated Camaro. A severe diet allowed Bundrant to almost totally dominate the event. The Hemet, CA, racer qualified number one, set low E.T. and won the event. The only interloper was Mike Pritchard, who ran the top speed of the event as well as making it to the final. Even with a .074 starting line advantage, Pritchard’s 8.630 was not enough with Bundrant running an 8.454 for the win.
