FIA Top Methanol Funny Car

Fast Freddy Fagerstrom is proving a real handful in his first season with the ex-Erbacher Firebird in Methanol Funny Car. A crowd favourite wherever he goes, Fagerstrom is now causing his opposition to cast envious glances in his direction as he picked up another top qualifier with a 5.914, and then delivered an impressive 5.776/250.97 in the first round to defeat Jarmo Kuutniemi and pad his lead in the 2007 title chase.

FIA Pro Stock

After a couple of seasons of banging his head against the Jimmy Alund juggernaut, Michael Malmgren looks to be firmly back on the championship trail. Following on from resetting the European ET record at Santa Pod, Malmgren took pole at Alastaro with a 6.921 (a shade ahead of Alund’s 6.931 and Magnus Hansson’s 6.933) and his fortunate first round victory with a shutoff mid seven over Peter Emilsson keeps him in the points lead as we head to Sweden.

UEM Top Fuel Bike

After victory in the UK National Championship round at Santa Pod a couple of weeks previously, the King Racing team headed to Finland with some valuable track time behind them and a baseline from which to develop the new fuel and timing system onboard the Puma Yamaha. Although alarmed by the rate the bike was scuffing pistons, team principal Ian King looked to have held onto top spot in qualifying with an easy and early shut-off 6.673, but was just topped by Rikard Gustafsson in the final session. A 6.478 reset the track record in King’s first round victory over Asko Maatta, despite throwing the drive belt at 1000 feet, and the short numbers point to a new PB before the season is out.
