Series regular Derrol Hubbard and local racer Dee Phnister (shown) were the two who made it to through the eleven-car field to face off in the finals. Hubbard had qualified number nine and started his run at the title by taking out hot shot Rick Snavely in round one. Phnister’s toughest race was against the event sponsor in round two. The final was all about Phnister, as he took the advantage at the line and an 8.251 to Hubbard’s 8.563 was enough to take the trophy and money down the road to Peoria.

Mike Saiki (shown) was fresh off a win at Fontana and showed why he is a champion by dominating the Modified Production class qualifying by almost .3 of a second. Even a positively asleep .358 by Saiki in the final did not allow Ron Shaw to take the win. Saiki’s 10.105 at 125.98 handled the 10.536 of Shaw.

John James fought through thirteen racers to hold off Nick Kendrick for the C/GAS win.

The index classes were well supported with the winners being A/GAS: Rob Patten over Tom Barnes; B/GAS: Doug Hampton bested Rick Logsdon; D/GAS: local racer Brian Weber took home another WCHRA title from Speedworld by taking out one of the favorites, Willie Robinson. In Open Comp Matt Rhoades had to fight through twenty racers to take home the title while Chaz Glenn of Phoenix runner-upped.
