Ward matched up against Tim Brown in the second round and this time Ward left on Brown and took the light with a 7.691 to Brown’s 7.896. The other semi-final saw Mike Boettcher take the win over Leah Pruitt running a 7.517 to Pruitt’s 7.567. The final round was a double breakout affair with Ward recording a quicker but losing 7.454 to Boettcher’s slower but winning 7.480.

Another group brought in to help fill out the show was the South Western Super Charged (SWSC) running on a 7.60 e.t. This group of racers traveled from Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado. They consisted of blown doorslammers, front-engined dragsters, T- bucket roadsters, and rear-engined dragsters. The final round came down to a dragster from El Paso, TX, and a car from Seminole, OK. El Paso’s Julian Moody’s BBC rear-engined supercharged dragster got the win on the starting line as Penner had a -.327 R.T. and an 8.30 e.t. to Moody’s 7.690/164.71.

There was also a match race between two other SWSC racers. J.D. St. Cyr out of El Paso, in his supercharged, small block-powered ‘55 Chevy pick-up lined up against Timothy O’Moore out of Tucson and his a ‘69 AMX sedan sporting an injected, 572 ci, alky-burning Hemi. O'Moore and St. Cyr had one run Friday night and St. Cyr took the win light with his all-time best speed of 199.61 mph.
