MSA Pro Mod

Despite the valiant efforts of some of Britain’s finest, Robert Joosten provided a double Dutch celebration with victory in an unopposed final round as Ray White was unable to get to the line under power and Gordon Appleton left before the tree activated thus failing to earn a semi-final bye on the lower half of the ladder. Joosten would have proved to be a tough adversary to get around in any case after a low qualifying 6.28/229 effort and the only car to consistently avoid the shakes throughout the weekend.

Three years in the making, Kev Slyfield debuted his simply gorgeous Willys at the Thunderball. Words (and pictures) simply fail to do this car justice. It’s unlikely to ever run in the low six second bracket (unless Slyfield decides to sacrifice the original tinwork and replace it with something lighter), but it is a very welcome addition to the British Pro Mod field.
Top Methanol

Top Methanol was bit of a strange tale, current European FIA Top Methanol Dragster champion Dave Wilson debuting a new primary sponsor and seemed to be going great guns with five fifties on each and every pass in qualifying and the first round of the four car eliminator. With such consistency the opening trophy of the season was surely his, but a loss of oil pressure before staging left the Silverline Tools entry sidelined.
