Although he set Top Speed of the Meet, (and a new HMP track record), with his 3.89/194.55 blast during the second qualifying session, Jason Scruggs infamous Corvette set new standards for “pedaling” eighth-mile attempts on his 3.90/191.25 first-round victory over Ohioan Brian Daniels. After lifting twice and wrestling the car all the way, a broken supercharger belt ripped through the Mississippian Chevy’s fuel and injector lines necessitating a huge thrash to prepare for Scruggs’ scheduled match with reigning ADRL World Champ Bubba Stanton in round two. Unable to fire the car in the staging lanes, Scruggs was pushing back to the pits when Stanton destroyed the engine of his “Widowmaker” on the burnout and was unable to stage for the solo run…resulting in no winner of the match!

Two different aerodynamic approaches are illustrated at the HMP finish line. The ‘63 Corvette of defending ADRL Pro Nitrous World Champ Keith Baker (near lane) drops the laundry while glued to the ground with less than an inch of ground clearance. In the other lane, Billy Harper’s new Viper bulldozes its way through the atmosphere with most air going UNDER the Dodge!

Kansas City veteran Terry Murphy wheeled the
beautiful new TDMSquared Corvette in Pro Nitrous
but missed the bump with a 4.34/167 best.

Midwest street car legend Rick Pope towed to the Gulf with his new ‘63 Corvette but a 4.33/167 in Pro Nitrous missed the field by one spot. Pro Street fans may remember his 7.6-second, 180 mph Pinto which still cruises the streets of Springfield, Missouri.
