7.0 INDEX

After going 7.0006 at 95.74 mph to qualify on top of 41 Atlanta Speed Shop 7.0 entries, B. Taylor (near lane) broke out and lost in round one of eliminations.

Lucas Bendahl started his early Chevy II from way down in 25th place, but advanced all the way to the final round against L. Pharr. Again, the reaction time made the difference as Bendahl left first with a .028 advantage, then ran 7.032 at 93.09 to take the win over Pharr’s 7.028 at 96.03 mph.

Al Hause (shown) and two-time defending 7.0 index champion Ricky Pennington arrived at Huntsville tied for the 2007 points lead, so their first order of business was a single-round faceoff on Friday night to determine who would compete for the Race Coach trailer and Pennington uncharacteristically redlighted. Pennington later qualified his ’64 Chevelle 18th while Hause started his 1970 Olds 442 from the 21st position. When Hause got past D. Cothern in round three, but Pennington lost to a holeshot by Chris Sloan it broke the tie and allowed Hause to secure his first ORSCA championship.
