6.0 INDEX

Mike Davis put his Plymouth Duster on the Industrial Depot 6.0 pole with a near perfect 6.0009 pass at 112.78 mph. In a double-breakout first round, however, Davis was the worst offender, handing the win to B. Williams.

After winning at Carolina Dragway a week earlier, number-eight qualifier Scott Flowers reached the semis with his ’72 Nova at Huntsville, but lost in a double-breakout race to Lebron Hill.

Defending 6.0 champion Michael Strickland arrived at Huntsville with a 48-point lead over Hill, but breaking out in round two against Williams cost him a chance to repeat as Hill went on to win the race and pass Strickland for the 2007 title. The Alma, GA-based racer didn’t leave empty-handed, though, as he won a race trailer for beating the other points leaders coming into the event in 5.30, 7.0 and Modified Street in a special event sponsored by RaceCoachSales.com.

Lebron “The Man” Hill is the new ORSCA 6.0 champion after qualifying 4th and making it through five elimination rounds for the event win. Hill clinched the championship with his semi-final win over Flowers and beat Bo Conner with a holeshot in the final round. “He (Conner) had lane choice because I broke out the previous round, so he flipped me to the left, but I got him pretty good on the tree and just kind of drove on down to the other end and came out on the good side,” Hill said after leaving with a .024 light to Conner’s .051 that allowed his 6.021 at 107.09 to beat Conner’s 6.011 at 115.92 mph.
