In a $10,00-to-win, curfew-challenging rematch of the 2006 final round, Lynch defeated defending champion Chuck Ulsch with a 6.534-second E.T. that was the quickest in 10.5 history (at 220.84 mph).

"You've got to run quicker because of the curfew here, And Chuck beat me last year here. So the pressure was definitely on in the final," Lynch said. "Everything definitely went in our favor this weekend."

With five more races left in his 2007 schedule, the Woodstock, Ga., resident said, "There's a little more in this car. I don't want to upset too many people, but there's more left in this thing. Precision Turbos gives me these turbos that make our car rock and roll. ATI Transmissions give me a bulletproof transmission converter. Proline Racing gives me a motor that keeps this car live."

Lynch shared a bit of his strategy. "We knew from that testing Saturday that we could better that run. But you've got to go rounds, too," he said. "If the record falls with the runs, so be it. It did this weekend."

Chuck Ulsch from Clarksville, MD, qualified #7 and was Outlaw 10.5 runner-up. Steve Kirk’s 6.863/206.04 with a .048 reaction time beat Rob Golobo’s 7.020/202.24 in the second round, but Kirk broke in the semi’s against Ulsch.

PRO OUTLAW

John Nobile walked away with The Shakedown at E-Town's $10,000 Pro Outlaw winner's share. His victory over Jim Kane came on the heels of his $20,000 jackpot Sept. 29 at the IHRA's Torco Pro Stock Showdown at Maryland International Raceway, and will be handy as he searches for a primary sponsor this winter.

Equally satisfying was Nobile's 6.278-second pass in the final round that unofficially trumped Brian Gahm's two-week-old IHRA national elapsed-time record of 6.281. His 223.28-mph speed (and his 223.43 in the semifinals) in his Mustang were only slightly off Gahm's record 223.95 mph. From The Shakedown he will take valuable momentum into the IHRA season finale at Rockingham, NC.

Jeff Lamantia (far lane) got the win over Scott Filkens in the second round of Pro Outlaw. Filkens was top qualifier with a 5.983/233.80 run.
