With repairs made, Hill came out swinging in round two, opening with a hundredth advantage off the start, but by 60 feet it was all Glidden all over again as he went 1.05 to the first marker, then posted a great 4.43 at 165.23-mph pass. Even the partisan wags in the stands were impressed by the Northerner's performance, admitting he got the best of Hill and won the match going away.
Seeking at least a little redemption, Hill made the decision to pull off the gloves and rolled his ADRL Extreme 10.5 '63 Corvette out of the trailer for the final, but academic only, round. Glidden remained unintimidated. "They could roll a Top Fuel car out for all I care," he claimed. "I told them from the beginning that I'd race my golf cart if that made 'em happy. I'm ready."
Hill again landed the first blow in round three, leaving with a .035 holeshot, but despite the Vette's trimmer frame Glidden's Mustang still beat it to the 60-foot cone with an outstanding 1.04 to Hill's off-the-pace 1.12. From there it looked like Glidden would lay another merciless beating on his opponent, but by half-track both cars got loose, staggering about their respective lanes, until Hill gathered his up and pulled off a very popular win with a 4.48-seconds pass at 148.48 mph while Glidden slowed to 4.79 at just 115.74 mph.
"That was pretty exciting for both of us; we both got real squirelly by mid track," Hill said later. "We both lost traction, but I lucked out and went by that time. I kind of got out of shape, but I didn't want to lift. I had to win at least one, you know."

For his part, Glidden was unimpressed. "It probably would've gone a .36 or .37 if I hadn't had to lift, but when it went, it just went and it was all I could do to get it back. I was off of it and almost straightened up when he came back around me."
Glidden called the Phenix City starting line "excellent" and said his 60-foot times were among the best he's ever managed and his round-two speed was his highest ever. He also mentioned a 4.40 is his career-best pass in the car, so overall he was left very pleased with his performance. He also appreciated the fan turnout. "The fans are awesome here and there's lots of them, so that's even better."

Hill later conceded his Outlaw 10.5 Mustang "wasn't the right car to run Billy heads-up with," but stressed the race was all in good fun and both drivers had a great time at the track. "Me and Billy talked before we raced and it was all about having a good time. We knew the fans would all get excited about it and we were right." But is Hill ready for a rematch? "Most definitely," he said.
