The event’s most anticipated match, the NMCA Nitto 10.5W Super Street final, found low qualifier Billy Glidden’s single 4-bbl/nitrous 404-inch ‘90 Mustang (near lane) against second qualifier Dan Millen’s turbocharged 381-inch 2002 Ford. After leaving as one, (0.041 to 0.046 RTs),Glidden stormed to what was then Low ET at 7.043/196.19 to drop Millen’s 7.13/204.08. Glidden then returned to meet NMRA Super Street Outlaw winner John Urist for the Overall Title and hit 7.022/195.90 for even more cash!

Nostalgia Super Stock pioneer Jay Adams wheeled Vern Hill’s magnificent ‘68 HemiCuda to a surprising second round loss; season-opening NMCA winner added weight to move into B/Factory Experimental and slow the 8-second rig to 9.40s at 142 mph.

Former NHRA Stock Eliminator wizard Jeff Swanson’s Tennessee-based Ford murdered the BFG Mean Street field with 10.36/129 blasts from his naturally-aspirated, 3300-lb, 360-inch smallblock on D.O.T. tires!

Launch technique in NMCA’s CarCraft Street Race Eliminator is critical; only the best can hook up 3500-lb. blown or nitrous-aided machines on DOT tires. Tim Hendricks’ 360-inch ‘95 Firebird ran 9.40s at over 142 before stumbling in the final round against Tim Meagher’s Massachussetts Mustang but Larry Hourcle’s 310-inch Virginia ‘88 Mustang bombed the ET record with a 9.30/147.52.
