“We did have a pretty bad fire—it didn't want to go out. We had a loose fuel line in the cylinder head, which caused a domino effect with the other parts, causing the fire. I barely got out of there, as I was running out of clean air. My options were running out because the heat was overwhelming me. The NHRA Safety Safari were on their game, once again, and did their job, and I am thankful for that. Unfortunately, we lost the car.”— Cruz Pedregon on going through yet another fire in the final round of qualifying on Saturday afternoon

"Hey, the best hitter on the team bats third, so there's nothing wrong with that.”— Del Worsham on qualifying 3rd for raceday

“Qualifying in the top half is great, and qualifying even higher would have been fantastic, but if we don't win round one tomorrow, it means nothing. Ask me if I'd rather qualify 16th and win some rounds, or be No. 1 and lose, and I think you know what I'm going to say.”— Burkart after qualifying 8th

"It's good; it's not great.”— Whit Bazemore on his car’s performance after qualifying 11th

“It's been a tough season and we keep trying different things to get it straightened out, but we're running out of things to try. We've got a brand new car at the shop and I'm thinking about pulling it out for Brainerd. It possibly could be the chassis; sometimes they just don't work right. We've got some time back at shop to look things over and make that decision.”
— Tim Wilkerson on the need for improvement after again being shut out of the raceday field

“That tire haze was all it took and, boom, lap over. He shot around me and we were cooked.”— Burkart on losing traction in the top end and allowing Ashley to drive by for the first-round win

"We made a nice pass, but it wasn't good enough."— Tommy Johnson Jr. on Tony Pedregon driving around his holeshot to win in round one

"No excuses, none at all. I was dead late.”— Worsham on losing to a holeshot by Tony Bartone in the opening round

"It got out there probably 500, 600 feet and it's like it hit oil; it just blew the tires right off of it. Everything looked right on the (computer) graph, including the drive shaft. Everything looked like it was right, but it just took the tire right off. All the timing, management, everything was over with and it just blew them off. The only thing I can think of is that I was on the right side of the groove, and maybe there was still a little bit of oil or something on the race track from Cruz (Pedregon, in the pair before). I don't know. (John) Force went down in 4.81 (seconds) right behind us, but maybe he was on the inside.”— Gary Scelzi trying to make sense of his first-round loss to Scott Kalitta

"There's something wrong with the car, because it was way, way down on power and we got outrun, which we certainly didn't expect.”— Bazemore after falling to Medlen in the semis

“I promise you this is just a glimpse of what we can do.”— Ashley on making it to the semis against T. Pedregon

"We were one cylinder away from winning that final round.”— T. Pedregon on being down on power in the final round

"I've been telling everybody that we've had a fast car all year but we just haven't been able to put it all together. Well, today we put it together.”— Medlen after earning the fifth victory of his Funny Car career
