RACE NOTES AND NEWS
*Body styles represented at the event were six ‘63’ Vettes; two each ’57 Chevys. ’67 Mustang and ‘05 Dodge Stratus; one each ’67 Camaro, ‘68 Camaro, ’69 Dodge Daytona and a ’41 Willys.
*Not a single nitrous oxide-injected car was among the 20 cars attempting to qualify for the 16-car field.
* Seven cars exceeded 230 mph. Troy Critchley’s was the only car to exceed 235 mph, doing it twice with a fastest of 237.09
* The closest race was Chip King’s first round win over Josh Hernandez. King got to the stripe .007 before Hernandez.
* Mike Ashley had the best reaction time of eliminations with a .416 light on his semi-final win over Zach Barklage.
Following events on back-to-back weekends, the Pro Mod Challenge will now take a long seven-week break. The sixth race of the 10-event season is scheduled for Aug. 18-20 in Memphis.
