Six entries made it out to Edgewater for the Pro Nostalgia field but the result was almost a carbon copy of Cecil County. Defending champion Paul Adams drove his '66 Fairlane to the top of the ladder with an 8.786/155.01 best followed by Jim MacKenzie's 8.908/152.18 in his '62 Chevy. With both Joey Wilkes and Russ Campbell out of picture on Sunday, MacKenzie powered past Jim Pancakes Delaware, OH based '68 Barracuda while Paul
Adam's put a hurting on Bob Michael's '62 Pontiac to set up the final. In the finale, Paul Adam's once again scored for the Ford fans driving his "Fountain of Youth" '66 Fairlane past Jim MacKenzie's "'Ol Reliable" '62 Chevy for the victory, an 8.835 to a losing 8.915.
Twenty seven Nostalgia Super Stockers rolled through the gates at Edgewater with the quickest ride in the class actually claiming the top qualified position. Perkasic, PA's Ed Youman's ran his 427 Ford powered ?64 Comet dead on his A/FX 9.25 index to take the #1 slot but fell in the first round to Kris Rachford's 69 Cobra. When the dust cleared on Sunday, it was #9 qualified Stephanie Dimino's A/FX ?66 Impala lined up against #16 qualifier Steve Beauchamp's '63 Plymouth for the money. Stephanie made her daddy proud taking her second win of the season in a double red, double breakout battle and Beauchamp was just proud to be there. It was his first race with the association. Both competitors were some of the youngest entries in the
class so the next generation may be taking over.
Street Machine saw a classic Ford versus Chevy battle with the classic BowTie scoring the victory this time. It was Duncan's first time out with the organization after proving his mettle in the NMRA's Factory Stock class and the Ford series veteran chose the G/SM 10.25-second index for his '79 Capri. Duncan powered his way through the field from the #10 slot to meet up with #6 qualified Carey Cable's big block powered F/SM 10.0 second '72 Nova. In the final, Duncan fouled away his chances with a -.016 redlight while Cable ran a 10.053 for his first NSCA Street Machine victory.
Cecil County American Muscle Car runner-up Harry Hutten drove his two tons of '60 Mercury Monterey to the top of the heap on Saturday but it was all defending champion Scott Williams on Sunday. With a lot more power under the hood, Williams had a hard time getting his stock suspension 9-second '65 Chevelle down the track but managed to
run consistently around the A/AM 9.75 mark to defeat Fred Heidel, Harry Hutten, and Bill Scheel to meet Cincinnati, OH's Mike Foss in the final. Foss drove his 11-second '86 Mustang past John Feistritzer and James Gorski to set up the match for the money but fouled away his chances with a redlight start. Williams took the opportunity to run his ride out the back door to a 9.548/141.86.
In other action, Lapeer, Mi's Zack Running defeated Joey Wilkes for the Factory Modified victory while Bobby Alvey defeated Don Holmes for the win in an ever growing and ultra-competitive Jegs Stock/Super Stock field. Winners in the American SuperCar challenge included Eddie Plybon in Genuine Street and Jerry Land in Serious Street.
