What once was Pro Mod’s only ProCharger-equipped Chevy is now Jerry Hunt’s conventionally-blown ZR1. St. Louis-based Team Schlemrock had only to cruise down the track to accept first round win when Swearingen fouled.
Mike Bodine’s Camaro was actually ahead at the ‘Tree in a first-round Ford-versus-Chevy, smallblock-versus-bigblock, turbo-versus-nitrous battle but Dan Saitz’s Probe pulled out a 4.27/175 to 4.38/159 win.
Spewing header flames and yanking the front wheels high, Aaron Hodges hit multiple under-1.00 sixty-feet ETs with a best of 0.987 on its way to 4.17/174 and 4.15/171 blasts in the last two rounds.
John Hocking’s sleek ‘68 Camaro failed to overcome the shakes with a best of 4.67/158 and some all-over-the-place passes.
