LIMITED STREET
Limited Street had just 14 entries at Jackson, so numbers one and two qualifiers Thompson and Hoyle each received bye runs to the second round, where Bruce Johnson, Jason Etheridge, Keith Szabo, Eric Dillard, Terry Woodson, and John Lannuzzi would join them.

Once there, Etheridge had a free pass after Johnson broke, Dillard went red against Hoyle, Woodson edged Szabo, and Iannuzzi advanced after Thompson left .024 too soon. That set the semi finals, where Hoyle won in 5.066 seconds over Woodson’s 5.225, while Iannuzzi made it through with a 5.564-seconds solo after Etheridge couldn’t make the start.

In the final, Hoyle’s 1969 Camaro left first with a .047 light to Iannuzzi’s .074 and it was essentially all over as the Taylorsville, NC-based driver went 5.058 at 149.17 to his opponent’s 5.217 at 144.44 mph.

Iannuzzi, who took 2005 off from the class to regroup and rebuild his McDonough, GA based ’67 Camaro, said he tried to make some adjustments in the car’s ignition box, “and it just didn’t work out for us. But that’s racing and we’re happy with how far we got and just

glad to be here.”

EZ STREET
Thanks to his number-one starting slot, Key also received a first-round bye, as did number-two qualifier Kell Eubanks. Key said he got “a bit of a scare” in the opening pass when he blew the tires off his black primered ride, so he backed it down a little from its record-setting qualifying trim. Chad Henderson and Robby Erwin also made it through unopposed when their competition broke before the start, and Bob LaBrecque, Tim Kincaid, Dave Cox, and Darrell Morgan advanced from their round-one pairings.

Eubanks easily prevailed over Morgan in the quarters, as did Kincaid over Cox, Erwin over Griffin, and Key over LaBrecque, who spun the tires on his ’73 Nova before even reaching the tree. In the semi finals, Key sent Kincaid packing and Erwin left with a .042 redlight against Eubanks.

The final had the making of a great race, but after both drivers left with similar reactions (Eubanks’ .054 to Key’s .057), the ’87 Mustang of Eubanks fell off to a 6.464 at 117.91, while Key’s early-model Camaro scored the event win in 5.256 seconds at 144.80 mph.

Lexington, AL's Donnie Key started from the number-one spot in EZ Street after making two record-setting 5.07-seconds passes, then advanced to earn the event title.
