The new Street Machine class attracted a great variety of street legal rides. During Saturday’s qualifying session, Michael Sodano ran his '87 Mustang through the traps to a 10.003 on his F/SM 10.00 index to take the No. 1 slot, but fell to veteran NSCA racer Tom Guellich in the first round on Sunday. When the dust cleared in eliminations, it was a pair of Mustangs still standing. Steve Gurnick’s daily driven Chevy-powered '85 Mustang is no newcomer to NSCA events but his opponent Scott Dalrympe was getting a feel for the hard indexes after migrating from NMRA Open Comp racing. The final was a double breakout race as both Mustangs left the tree with almost identical reaction times but Dalrympe got the win as the least offender with an 11.704 on his 11.75 M/SM index.

Elkton, MD’s John Kulaga set the pace in American Muscle Car qualifying with a dead-on 12.000 on his J/AM 12.00 index with defending champion Scott Williams only a mere .016 seconds behind with a 9.516 from his beautiful ’65 Chevelle. Williams fouled away his chances in a controversial encounter with Kulaga making the final an all-Mercury shootout. Harry Hutten took the advantage at the light with a .049 light in his two ton ’60 Monterey but Kulaga powered his ’71 Comet to a 12.019 for the win. Hutten ran a 14.777 on the U/AM 14.75 index.

In other action, Dennis Steward defeated Bryan Warner for the Factory Modified victory while George Taylor Jr. took the win over Michael Allen in an eighteen car Jegs Stock/Super Stock field. Winners in the American SuperCar Challenge included Cliff Sebring in Original Street, Edgar Perez in Genuine Street, Jerry Land in Serious Street, and Paul Ziajski in Modified Supercar.
