Gas Winner (left) – Emilio Spinozzi ( great name for a drag racer) had his 358 cubic inch Ford Cortina running better than anyone else in the 33 car Gas field. His near perfect .001 light in the final meant that a .07 over 8.79 was enough to take out opponent George Dardagos who ran much closer to his dial with a .02 over 8.68 but was doomed by his .310 light.
Paul Contos (below) had this traditional flat head powered ’27 Ford T Coupe out for a squirt running on an 18.20 dial-in.
Peter Cashin’s 48 Ford Panel Van just oozed “old skooll” drag racing however a 10.33 with a 0.304 light spelled the end in the first round.
Aaron Hambridge was at the butterfly of the “Back In Time” 426 Hemi powered FED and some mid sevens at nearly 200 mph were the best yet for the great looking car.
This 38 Chev Ute tows the “Back In Time” front engined dragster of Cliff Phillips (left).
Oz Muscle Winner (right) – The biggest bracket ended up being the Australian Muscle Car bracket with 54 entries. 50 cars made the first frame but at the end it all came down to Brett McNiff in his 426 Dodge powered ‘70 VG Valiant who squeaked out a win by a few thousands on his 10.357/127.02 win over Ken McCauley’s XP Falcon.
US Muscle Winner (left) – Some 39 cars entered the popular American Muscle bracket. At the end John Kerr in his 302 powered ‘64 Mercury Comet outlasted them all with a string of low 13 second passes with a 13.37/92.51 in the final.
Hot Rod Winner (right) – Paul Cooke in his neat ’28 Ford Roadster had to battle his way through the 35 entries in the Hot Rod bracket for the win. His 10.58 on a 10.45 dial proved to be enough thanks to his opponent, Tom Dennerley’s 13.89 break out time.
