Kell Eubanks led EZ Street qualifying with a 5.236-seconds pass at 141.84 mph over Atlanta’s eighth mile, followed by Shane Stack, Tim Kincaid, Cox, and Dusty Bradford. Eubanks fell in the semis to a stellar 5.177 by Cox, who previously took care of Bob LaBrecque and Bradford.
Meeting Cox and his Camaro in the final was Tommy Brewer and his Fox-body Mustang after ousting Gary Price, Stack, and Kincaid. And as good as Cox’s semi-final pass was, it was Brewer who set low E.T. of the meet with a 5.171 against Stack in round two.
After nearly identical reactions in the final, Cox took the win in 5.772 seconds at 125.47 mph, while Brewer crossed the finish line 6.056 seconds later at 131.36 mph.

Despite a .015-second holeshot by Kenny Acree in the 5.30 final, Knight won with a 5.309-seconds pass in his ’68 Ford pick-up to Acree’s 5.334. Paulk and N. Myers left almost together in the 6.0 final, but it was Paulk’s 6.056 that got the job done against Myers’ 6.064-seconds effort. In 7.0, the final was over before it really started, as Ricky Millard went red by .006, handing the win to Bendall, who ran a breakout 6.996 in his Chevy stationwagon.
The next ORSCA event is slated for May 19-21, at Carolina Dragway, “The House of Hook” near Jackson, SC.
