The only time Bill Kuhlmann's nitro- burning "Ripper" '68 Stingray
wasn't blazing the tires was when the returning veteran was holding down
the clutch pedal.

Much ado was made of Ron Clark’s indescribable street-legal “Bugzilla”
‘70 Volkswagen but no mention was made of the facts that it was
entered in Pro Extreme, performed FULL eighth-mile burnouts, ran 5.30s
at over 140 mph, and eventually bombed the blower in the middle of the
water box!

Nitrous veteran Steve Vick's patriotic Stingray made six attempts between
testing and qualifying and all were aborted due to some of the worst tire
shake of the event.

The car in the other lane against Shannon Jenkins’ 3.99-second record
breaker was Texan Ken Thomas’ slick “Bad Bird” ‘97
Trans Am. After a brilliant seven hundredths-of-a-second holeshot, the
Lone Star Pontiac pilot was left with the honor of running alongside...and
slightly behind...the “Iceman”.

Although he lost in the first round at Valdosta, Keith Baker kept his
Alabama Stingray in the ADRL Pro Nitrous point lead after his victory
at the 2005 ADRL Fall Drags in Kennedale, TX, which was the official kick-off
to the 2006 ADRL season! ![]()
