Georgian Joe Culver sent the SGMP starting line crew scurrying on this Friday pass alongside Terry Leggett's Willys, curtailing further efforts from the "Bodacious" '90 Thunderbird Super Coupe.

Chip King awoke Friday morning to find that vandals had attempted to turn his decade-old silver Avenger into a green-on-blue 2006 Charger. The North Carolinian declined to press charges, however, when the “Exciting New Dodge Whatever” lived up to its freshly-painted name with a 3.938/187.89 career-best which had wife Wendy nearly doing cartwheels. A later 3.98/185 qualified for the field before a first-round loss in the final pair before Saturday’s rainout.

Georgia's Chris Rock attempted to qualify his outrageous Outlaw 10.5 '69 Camaro in Pro Extreme. Although it never did get to the finish line under full power, it was a decided crowd favorite and a serious contender for Best Appearing Everything.

Another wild ride which suffered enough damage to find the trailer after Friday night was Don Roddy's "Screamer" '55 Thunderbird. The Georgian was one of no less than seven Ford pilots in competition, a modern-day Pro Modified record.
