![]() Steve Mikus, from Michigan, won on Day 3 and epitomizes what a good racer can accomplish on a budget. Not that he doesn’t have everything it takes to win, he just doesn’t bother with the “fancy stuff.” |
![]() This was attempt #1 to get the past Moroso Event Champions in one spot for a photo. It didn’t work out this time, but if you know any of these guys you know this is a bunch of guys with pockets full of winning time slips. This is a classic gathering and one that may not happen again. I was pumped just to be there. |
Frosty Dillman had one of only two door cars in the Race of Champions. His ultra-sharp Nova carried the wheels about two feet off the ground every run and was turning 9.90-10.0 ETs round after round.
Scott Weney, head honcho at S&W Race Cars showing off a bit of his handiwork. This Camaro roadster is a sweet piece. It looks even better close up. It took a hit in the shut-down area when a sand crane decided it need to land where his car was headed. Damage was minor but when it’s a new car it seemed major to him I am sure.
![]() This is Danny Bastinelli’s “Destroyer Dragster”. What can you say about Danny -- he does it his way. And I am here to tell you this, his “way” is flat-out FAST. The dial-in Friday was 6.98! Oh yeah, he uses ALL the bottle! |
![]() This is about as close as you get to a final Race of Champions qualifier photo. It was taken right after Jeggie scored the $5,000 win. Just in case you haven’t met him, that is Randy Folk in front of the dragster with a “bit of the Champagne” in memory of Dick Moroso and his race that the Folk family have done so well at over the years. |
