
In round number one Paulauskis laid down another incredible pass of 6.442/219.76 mph and that was on a single. In the race of the day, Ed Thornton barely edged out Mack Moffat, as the 2005 champ ran a fair (for them) 6.654/213.37 over a game Moffat at 6.674/211.69 mph.

The bright yellow Mercury Cougar of John Mihovetz left with Oregon-based Lee Smith's Corvette, when Smith shook the tires while the pretty Cougar blazed to a 6.707/205.76 mph win. Smith’s ’58 Vette (shown) ran a losing 7.50 at 199.70 mph.
Las Vegas’s Gil Neverez logged a 6.841/202.79 mph when Chuck Roberts’ ‘55 Chev did not show. Scialpi, in his West Covina, CA-based famed 1957 Chevy which he runs in West Coast Pro Mod, Super Chevy Nitro Coupes, and now Pro Street, clicked off an easy 7.388/135 on a single as Clint Hairston crashed on Saturday and could not return (shown below).

Paulauskis laid down another strong pass of 0.467 at 218.69 mph to defeat his arch-rival, Big Ed Thornton, who experienced handling problems with the Extreme ‘57 Chevy and shut off way early at 7.25/144 mph. The WFO were a bracket car this weekend! Scialpi puthis Redline Oil ‘57 into the semis with an odd lot single of 6.50, 214.86 mph. Finally David Dedrickson has got his Silver Trans Am straightened out as he laid down a very respectable 6.742/206.54 mph to narrowly defeat Garrett Richards’ Chevy pick up which followed closely at 6.975/198.56 mph.
