TOP FUEL FLYER
- Originally seven cars were entered for the Top Fuel bracket however due to the non-receipt of parts the entries of Santo Rapisarda and Steve Read pulled out leaving five cars.
- Darren Morgan continued his great transition to the Team Read stable with a top qualifying 4.85 at only 245.23 mph as he threw the blower belt at 1000 feet.
- Morgan faced team mate Phil Read in the final after running back to back 4.71 times while Read had come off 4.636/325.38 and 4.642/325.91 runs. As they left the line it was a slight lead to Read and he extended all the way as the 4.679/323.50 to a flaming second best 5.02/286.99 mph. The speed from the semis final run also becomes a new record.
Justin Walshe had two wins on the night – one in Competition and the other was the acceptance by his girlfriend Karen to be his wife.
