PRO STOCK ROCKS
Another big field tried to qualify for the Pro Stock bracket and this saw team mates Jon Andriopoulos in a Dodge Avenger and Andrew Stravroulakis in a Ford Escort face each other in the last pairing of qualifying running 7.157 and 7.193 times respectively – the quickest ever side by side run for the 400 cube engines.- Andriopoulos ran bracket like 7.219, 7.219 and 7.209 times to win the event and reset the national record again with the 7.157 qualifier.
- East Coast Nationals winner, Shane Tucker went from the Penthouse to the Outhouse when his 7.33 was only good enough for tenth in the eight car field.
PRO BIKE BULLETIN
Dion Prowse had his second win in as many weeks when he saw opponent, Daniel Peatey red light.
- Daniel Peaty was again top qualifier on his Suzuki with a 7.22 but eighth went to Luke Crowley’s Kawasaki with only a sub par 10.37.
- Despite having Dion Prowse’s Buell well covered in each round Peaty ended up red lighting a 7.16 away to Prowse’s 7.30 with a .387 light.
ALCOHOL AGENDA
The gorgeous Spiderman themed funny car of Tim Watkins made his first five second pass and made the field of the Top Alcohol bracket.
- New Zealander Tim Watkins’ flopper crossed lanes and smacked into Dean Oakey’s dragster in the first qualifier but made the field with his first five on the second with a 5.99/238.60
- Brett Stevens top qualified with a 5.699/254.66 but fell to eventual winner, Wayne Newby with shake in the semis.
- Newby was amazing in the final when a holeshot 5.77 (.408 to a.690) more than covered Damien Harris’ quicker 5.71.
