Jeff Burk reporting
Who ya gonna believe me or your lying eyes?
Despite some drizzle and an overcast sky plenty of teams and fans were already on the premises of Cordova Dragway for the 55th annual World Series of Drag Racing. The weather broke late in the day and the forecast for Friday and Saturday is 70 to 80 percent chance of blue skies and temps in the low 80’s.
Just so that you will know, if something should happen weather wise to postpone the race Saturday it will be ran on Sunday!!!! said track owner/promoter Scott Gardner. With NHRA Nitro funny car racers Pedregon, Wilkerson, Worsham and favorite independent Jack Wyatt on the grounds I think there is a very good chance we’ll see the track record for Funny Car fall. And don’t forget the AA/FC lead by Halladay and the Wonder Bread Flopper heading up a field of six AA/FC.
Here is the line-up for Friday Night: Arnie Beswick’s Pontiac will match race, The touring AA/FAs Nanook and Rat Trap on about 80 percent. Can you say FLAMES, plus the usual six jets, wheelstanders, and the topper and an act the Burster has never, never seen. The Legendary Bennie the Bomb will close out the program Friday night. Be there or else!
Bennie the Bomb, That act alone makes it a must for Jeff Burk. See Ya Friday night. Good weather tomorrow or DRO will refund the unspent portion of your DRO subscription!
