Day one of qualifying at the Street Car Supernationals brought out over 340 of the quickest doorslammers for this fourth edition of this West Coast year ending event for Pro Street, Outlaw Street, Extreme Drag Radial, Hot Street, Wild Street, three Index classes and a Mustang-only class.

Kirk Wilmes (pictured) from Oklahoma is the quickest doorslammer here in Las Vegas running 6.160 elapsed time followed closely by Mike Moran at 6.165 ET at 245.18 MPH.  With 38 Pro Streeters having made runs on the first day, a few more had issues in the burnout box and never made it to the staging beams.

Bill Glidden’s 6.718 leads a tight Outlaw Street with Ron Lummus next with a 6.726 and Bob Glidden’s 6.764 sitting in the third position.

In Extreme Drag Radial Paul Major’s Corvette sits atop the field with a 3-tenths lead over the #2 runner Rich Hoyle’s 7.560 ET.

Hot Street is lead by Michael DeMayo’s ‘05 Mustang at 8.243 ET at 162.76 MPH.  Kirk Bouchard lead the Mustang Madness class, Mike Nordahl is top qualifier in Open Comp, Mike Sigman leads Double Index and Ray Marin is on top in Super Street.

Beautiful warm days are expected for the rest of the weekend, the Strip at Las Vegas crew has provided a great track surface ready to take on all comers.  There’s still plenty of racing left with some of the fastest door cars around, so load up the car and get here!

Bob Bunker Jr. improved to a 6.898 in the supercharged ‘55 Chevy in the second round of Pro Street qualifying, he carded a 7.774 elapsed time in the early round with a mile per hour of 229.90 for the vintage shoebox.

Michigan’s Mike Moran jumped into the #2 position in his ‘99 Chevy Monte Carlo running an strong 6.165 ET at a whopping 245.18 MPH.  Moran sits directly behind the #1 qualifying 6.160 of Kirk Wilmes in Pro Street after two sessions with thirty-two racecars having made runs in this class.

Clint Hairston carries the front wheels on his best pass of the weekend so far in the Pertronix-sponsored Hairston family GTO, jumping into the #4 Pro Street slot with a 6.333 at 226.89 MPH.

Pro Stock veteran Bob Glidden showed the other competitors that he’s still got it.  He’s driving Pro Golfer Kenny Perry’s Pontiac-bodied, Ford-powered Outlaw Street machine and in the second session moved into the #3 position with a 6.764 ET at 204.20 MPH run, sitting right behind the Mustang of Ron Lummus.

Al Jimenez readies his Wild Street ‘72 Camaro behind the Las Vegas starting line, Jimenez then ripped off the quickest pass ever on a Mickey Thompson 2.75 drag radial with a 7.590 elapsed time at 187.83 in the Friday first session backing it up with a 7.592 at 187.60 pass in the second session.

Tony Baudier is out here in Las Vegas with his 2009 Camaro and a Mike Moran-built 509 cubic inch twin-turbo Chevy. Baudier and his team made the long tow out from Louisiana and will begin qualifying on Friday.
