Day one of qualifying at the Street Car Supernationals brought out over 340 of the quickest doorslammers for this fourth edition of this West Coast year ending event for Pro Street, Outlaw Street, Extreme Drag Radial, Hot Street, Wild Street, three Index classes and a Mustang-only class.

Bob Bunker Jr. improved to a 6.898 in the supercharged ‘55 Chevy in the second round of Pro Street qualifying, he carded a 7.774 elapsed time in the early round with a mile per hour of 229.90 for the vintage shoebox.

New Yorker Paul Major’s ‘01 Corvette has the Extreme Drag Radial field covered by over three tenths with his 7.256 ET at 205.13 Miles Per Hour, this nitrous-fed Vette is screaming!

Michigan’s Mike Moran jumped into the #2 position in his ‘99 Chevy Monte Carlo running an strong 6.165 ET at a whopping 245.18 MPH.  Moran sits directly behind the #1 qualifying 6.160 of Kirk Wilmes in Pro Street after two sessions with thirty-two racecars having made runs in this class.

Clint Hairston carries the front wheels on his best pass of the weekend so far in the Pertronix-sponsored Hairston family GTO, jumping into the #4 Pro Street slot with a 6.333 at 226.89 MPH.

Pro Stock veteran Bob Glidden showed the other competitors that he’s still got it.  He’s driving Pro Golfer Kenny Perry’s Pontiac-bodied, Ford-powered Outlaw Street machine and in the second session moved into the #3 position with a 6.764 ET at 204.20 MPH run, sitting right behind the Mustang of Ron Lummus.

Southern Californian John Mitchell ‘71 Nova ran a best of 8.707 in Hot Street qyalifying, now in the #8 position.

Hot Street’s Victor Brum moved up in the second session of qualifying with an 8.441 ET at 159.02 MPH landing into the #4 position driving his ‘70 Chevelle from Peoria, AZ.

Mike Maggio from San Dimas, CA landed his ‘03 Corvette in the #15 position in Pro Street running a 6.605 elapsed time at 214.08 MPH.

PSCA regular Chris Alston is in the Outlaw Street lucky 13 spot after the second session of qualifying with a 7.433/190.19 charge.  His clean ‘64 Nova is powered by a turbocharged 598 cubic inch big block Chevy.

Len Freeman from here in Las Vegas sits 24th in Outlaw Street with his ‘87 Buick turbocharged V-6 having run a 7.90/175.30 MPH, Freeman has tuning help this weekend from Turbo-Guru Ken Duttweiler.

After the first Pro Street qualifying session Kirk Wilmes from Oklahoma in his 526 cubic inch Hemi-powered ‘68 Firebird has the field covered with a 6.215 ET at 231.20 MPH.

Michael DeMayo hails from West Sunbury, Mass., his 420 cubic inch Ford-powered Mustang leading all qualifiers in the Hot Street category with a strong 8.305 at 162.65 MPH.

SoCal’s Ron Lumis in his Garrett Turbo-backed ‘08 Mustang sits in the #2 position in Outlaw Street after one session of qualifying.

After the first session of Outlaw Street Bill Glidden’s Mickey Thompson tires-backed ‘06 GTO took the top slot with his 400 cubic inch Ford-powered racecar running 6.760 at 203.49 MPH.

Marc Meadors in his beautiful ‘69 Camaro left the starting line before the timing system was activated, so no time was recorded in the first round of Pro Street qualifying.

Dean Goforth from Holdenville, Oklahoma drove his ‘07 Pontiac GTO to the number two position in Friday’s first round of Pro Street with a 6.427/218.87 MPH charge.

Al Jimenez readies his Wild Street ‘72 Camaro behind the Las Vegas starting line, Jimenez then ripped off the quickest pass ever on a Mickey Thompson 2.75 drag radial with a 7.590 elapsed time at 187.83 in the Friday first session backing it up with a 7.592 at 187.60 pass in the second session.

Gary Soulagas is hauling ass with his twin turbocharged 4.6 liter Ford modular motored late model Lightning stepside pickup on this 7.314/176.88 MPH licensing pass.

They may look like Pontiacs, but in the Glidden camp they are powered by small block Ford!  Later this weekend Bob and Bill Glidden will match race in 2008 factory Ford Cobra Jet Mustangs.

Tony Baudier is out here in Las Vegas with his 2009 Camaro and a Mike Moran-built 509 cubic inch twin-turbo Chevy. Baudier and his team made the long tow out from Louisiana and will begin qualifying on Friday.

Mike Moran grabbed the Top Speed money for his 6.150 ET at 244.65 MPH, Moran was running 188.67 at half track.

Bob Glidden in his Pontiac Grand Am launches off the Strip at Las Vegas starting line during the Thursday late afternoon test session - carding a 6.909/200.29 MPH off the trailer.

This year marks the fourth Street Car Super Nationals.
