Day one of qualifying at the Street Car Supernationals brought out over 340 of the quickest doorslammers for this fourth edition of this West Coast year ending event for Pro Street, Outlaw Street, Extreme Drag Radial, Hot Street, Wild Street, three Index classes and a Mustang-only class.
Kirk Wilmes (pictured) from Oklahoma is the quickest doorslammer here in Las Vegas running 6.160 elapsed time followed closely by Mike Moran at 6.165 ET at 245.18 MPH. With 38 Pro Streeters having made runs on the first day, a few more had issues in the burnout box and never made it to the staging beams.
Bill Glidden’s 6.718 leads a tight Outlaw Street with Ron Lummus next with a 6.726 and Bob Glidden’s 6.764 sitting in the third position.
In Extreme Drag Radial Paul Major’s Corvette sits atop the field with a 3-tenths lead over the #2 runner Rich Hoyle’s 7.560 ET.
Hot Street is lead by Michael DeMayo’s ‘05 Mustang at 8.243 ET at 162.76 MPH. Kirk Bouchard lead the Mustang Madness class, Mike Nordahl is top qualifier in Open Comp, Mike Sigman leads Double Index and Ray Marin is on top in Super Street.
Beautiful warm days are expected for the rest of the weekend, the Strip at Las Vegas crew has provided a great track surface ready to take on all comers. There’s still plenty of racing left with some of the fastest door cars around, so load up the car and get here!
