The 2008 Real World Street Nationals at Orlando’s Speed World Dragway was finally completed on Monday with a persistent rainout declared the winner on Sunday.  Delivering close racing action and some of the fastest door cars in the country is the hallmark of what is called by Track Manager Carl Weisinger the "Baddest door slammer race in the world”!

Super Pro Street Winner

Mike “Hit Man” Hill and his Nitrous Corvette crew from Lithonia, Georgia had some issues in qualifying finally landing in the #3 slot in Super Pro Street.  Hill met #1 qualifier Vinny Budano’s ‘68 Nitrous Camaro and the “Boyz from New York” in the final round with Hill’s Vette running a solid 6.381/220.15 miles per hour to Budano’s early shut off 7.612/128.84 MPH.

In the Semi-Final Round Mike Hill beat Mark Micke’s Camaro with Hill running a 6.395 to Micke’s 6.455.  On the other side of the ladder in the semi’s Vinny Budano won the round over Tony Christian’s Grand Am with a 6.427 giving up lane choice in the final to Hill’s Vette.

Outlaw 10.5 Winner

Bill Futch drove his twin turbo ‘02 Camaro from the #3 qualifying position meeting #1 qualifier Chuck Ulsch’s Camaro in the final round.  Futch took the top end win light with a 6.853/198.90 MPH charge taking home the cash to Ulsch’s 8.042.

Heavy Street Winner

Floridian Scott Husted qualified third in his Heavy Street ‘69, 598 inch Camaro and defeated Michael Hupp from Indiana in an ‘80 Camaro in the final round.  Husted lead off the starting line with an .045 light crossing the finish line ahead of Hupp with a 7.478/194.32 mph pass to Hupp’s 7.635.

Drag Radial Eliminations Ladder

#1 qualifier Paul Major from Fort Salonga, West Virginia driving his 454 inch ‘01 Corvette brought on a classic nitrous -vs- turbo battle in the Drag Radial final round against Maryland’s Scott Bitzer in his ‘81 Malibu sporting a 632 inch Chevy.  Major had the advantage off the starting line .008 to Bitzer’s .099 and the Vette crossed the stripe first with a 7.442 at 202.18 MPH.
