Pro Sports Compact racer Brad Personett made his much anticipated debut in the ADRL Pro Nitorus class and qualified 12th with a respectable 4.27

The Pro Nitrous field didn’t deliver a sub-four second pass although Keith Baker did record a very good 4.000 while winning the Pro Nitrous Championship race. None the less the top half of the 16 car field was spectacular with seven of the first eight cars making laps under 4.10. Qualifying was lead by STan Allen and his ‘68 Camaro with a 4.018 and Shannon Jenkins set Top Speed with a 181.18 lap and was the only car that ran over 180mph. He did have David Reher of Reher-Morrison fame in his pit most of the weekend.
Brad Personett and tea, Titan,a, factory supported Toyota team , came to the race and qualified one of their turbo-charged, EFI, Alky burning, 4 cylinder powered cars. Personett’s 05 Scion had the teams big(186 ci) motor in the car and did qualify much to the delight of the crowd.
The bump for the 16 car field was a 4.627 turned in by Heath Harvey.
The first round of eliminations went according to form as every car and driver that qualified in the top half of the field beat his opponent except for newly crowned ADRL champ Keith Baker who was dropped by Terry Housley. Other racers advancing included Stan Allen, James Hancock, Harold Martin, Dennis Radford, Billy Harper, Burton Auxier and Shannon Jenkins.

Pro Extreme Eliminations (partial results race postponed)

Bubba Stanton had a career best everything at the 2006 ADRL World Finals Bubba Stanton had a career weekend at the ADRL World Finals basically running the table to win the ADRL Championship on Friday.

Due to threatening weather and in an effort to get the World Finals completed(unsuccessfully) the ADRL limited qualiying to just two rounds but despite losing the final round of qualifying the 31 Pro Extreme cars on the grounds delivered speed and drama in big quantities.
Bubba Stanton obviously had the best car in the class at this event qualifying on the pole with a 3.897/186.96. He would have had both ends of the qualifying marks but Josh Hernandez driving on home turf got the speed mark with a 3.960/188.57 blast in the last round of eliminations.
The track was a little tricky and more than one car shook and slid all over the track during qualifying and more than one car brushed the guard rail, but in the ADRL hitting the wall doesn’t disqualify a pass (although crossing the centerline does) so drivers in both qualifying and eliminations were loath to lift and the results were some incredible and incredibly entertaining laps.
Five of the sixteen cars that qualified for the race ran laps under four-seconds and the bump spot was a respectable 4.079 which was recorded by Alabama racer Hugh Scott in his ex- Mike Ashley ‘63 ‘Vette. The bump could have been much lower if the drivers had been allowed the third qualifying lap. Those that didn’t make the field included ADRL record holder Jason Scruggs. Other drivers who usually make the field who didn’t here included Micheal Neal, Bennie McDonald Jr and Troy Critchley.
The first ound of eliminations saw Bubba Stanton, Kelly Martin, Dwayne Watkins, John Lynum, Joey Martin, Brandon Pesz, Josh Hernandez, and Bobby Booth advance and will race next year when the race is completed

Brand new daddy Troy Critchly driving for Dave Woods whose Get Work.Com company was the title right's sponsor for the World Finals struggled and did not qualify his immaculate '70 Cuda

The Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Texas was reportedly suffering through a 100 year drought until the ADRL came to town for the Serie’s season finale World Finals.
The sanctioning body did manage to get the battle of the belts races done to determine the World Champs in both Pro Extreme (Bubba Stanton) and Pro Nitrous (Keith Baker) but just one round into eliminations Saturday night the rains came and never went away forcing the ADRL to postpone the rest of the event until the first race if the 2007 season.
“I really feel bad for our fans that we couldn’t finish the race but we just had no choice so we will finish this race on Friday night at the opening event of the 2007 ADRL season. We’ll just give our fans two races for the price of one.” ADRL prez Kenny Nowling. He also went on to say that he wasn’t sure where that race would be held since negotiations with the facility scheduled to hold the event are still ongoing and a contract has yet to be signed for the event.

Stanton takes the Pro Extreme title

Oct 14, 06 | 11:39 am

Mississippi Pro Extreme racer Bubba Stanton simply put laid waste to the eight-car field of ADRL stars that were vying for the ADRL Championship and the “Belt” that goes with the win. Stanton was simply the best of the best on this day. His 3.897 thumping of ADRL record holder Jason Scruggs was just a preview of what was to come. In a semi-final meeting with last years winner John Lynum Stanton had his toughest race. Lynum left first cutting a .026 light followed by Stanton with a .052. But Stanton had the horsepower and the clutch tune-up this night as he drove around Lynum in the lights with a 3.921/185.89 to Lynum’s very respectable 3.964/185.97.
On the other side of the ladder -in a meeting of NHRA Pro Mod hitters-Josh Hernandez took it to Joe Martin leaving on Martin and then driving away to the win with a 4.03 to a 4.06. In the semi-final Hernandez Camaro stepped up with a 3.948 win over Mike Neal’s troubled 6.175.
The final round lived up to its advance billing. Stanton and his ‘63 ‘Vette using Alan Johnson hemi power lined up against the Brad Anderson hemi-equipped, Howard Moon-tuned, ‘68 Camaro. Stanton left a thousandth in front of Hernandez and drove away from Hernandez and his Camaro with a 3.914/186.70 even though the Moon-tuned Camaro did make a Top End charge running a 3.954/187.08 which was Top Speed of the event.
The owner of the Stanton team was heard to say in the winners circle “ We really didn’t deserve to win this (belt) but we’ll take it.” In this reporters opinion that team definatley earned and deserved to win the titlle and the beat the best in proving that, Jeff Burk

Battle for the belt -eliminations in Pro Nitrous

Oct 14, 06 | 11:06 am

Keith Baker from Dothan Alabama was the number one seed in the eight-car “Battle-for-the-belt” race that determined the ADRL World Champion here at Texas Raceway, Kennedale, Texas.
He demonstrated that the number one seed was warranted when he (Baker) ran a stellar 4.000 during the traditional ADRL pre-race test session was the picture of consistancy in eliminations as he took out Harold Martin and Shannon Jenkins on his way to the final round matchup with ADRL regular Burton Auxier.
Baker used a 4.10 against Martin and 4.11 on Jenkins while both of those racers spun and shook forcing them to lift. The loss had to especially hard for Jenkins who had said going in that he regretted not racing for the belt in 2005 and was looking to make up for that at kennedale this year. Burton Auxier got by Alabama racer J. Hancock III in the first round with a 4.13 then in a bizarre race that saw another Alabama racer R. Kelly get a red-light after taking too long to stage and then both racers sashayed down the course driving on or crossing the centerline but when Kelly was timed out Auxier was basically on a bye run.
Auxier had to completely change the clutch assembly between the semi-finals and the finals and he may have not had time to get everything just right. He did cut a .008 light against Baker who had a respectable .035 bulb, but Auxier had traction issues instantly and Baker motored to a 4.129/178.02 that got him the leather and brass trophy belt
