TCI 700R4 Constant Pressure Valve Body for 1982-86 Transmissions

Automatic transmissions are complex parts, mysterious boxes filled with fluid and strange looking components that are oftentimes a challenge for even an accomplished transmission builder to understand. The TV cable that is used to set internal line pressure and part throttle shifting is a critical element of the transmission, but it is often incorrectly adjusted or even left disconnected. The result – total transmission meltdown, often within a matter of a few miles. The TCI 1982-86 GM 700R4 Constant Pressure Valve Body puts an end to all of those problems.

TV cable adjustment on early model 1982-86 GM 700R4 transmissions required near-expert mechanical abilities. Installation of the TCI 1982-86 700R4 Constant Pressure Valve Body avoids common transmission destruction in both stock and aftermarket units, by maintaining adequate line pressure at all times. While the TV cable still needs connection for proper transmission operation, the TCI 700R4 Constant Pressure Valve Body provides more freedom when setting part throttle shift points and works with a wide variety of cable brackets and carburetor styles.

Superchips New Cortex Firmware

The new Cortex firmware includes basic data acquisition such as timed speed and distance runs (0 – 60 and ¼ mile). New features include advanced data acquisition of monitoring engine vitals such as RPM, speed, temperature, and O2 sensor readings.

The firmware is the initial release of the data acquisition software suite that will eventually become the PowerLOG, PowerWATCH, and PowerSYNC performance softwares of the PowerPAQ Software Suite which are expected to be available in all Cortex and Flashpaq performance programmers by the end of the year.

The PowerPAQ Software Suite will work on the innovative Cortex (all applications) and best selling Flashpaq (all applications). Flashpaq is the best selling programmer that delivers street busting horsepower or maximum torque for more towing power. Cortex is the most recent innovation in a long line-up of world-class Superchips performance programmers and combines all of the features of the Flashpaq, adding to it the industry’s first two-year powertrain warranty and OEMFLEX tuning, all in a compact, user-friendly programmer.

Dart Introduces Special High Performance
Small-Block V-8

Dart's new Special High Performance (SHP) small-block meets the need for an affordable, precision-machined cast-iron block with superior features. Designed for high-performance and heavy-duty applications producing up to 600 horsepower, the SHP block is the ideal starting point for hot rodders, drag racers, circle track competitors, off-roaders, and high-performance marine enthusiasts. Two part numbers cover the vast majority of small-block engine combinations: 31161111 (4.00" bore) and 31161211 (4.125" bore).

Made in the USA on all-new tooling, the SHP block delivers exceptional value. Priced hundreds of dollars less than a full-race block, the SHP block eliminates the time and expense of rebuilding a junkyard core. The SHP block is tailored to the most popular performance and racing applications, with 350 main bearings and a choice of 4.00" and 4.125" cylinder bores.

SHP blocks are manufactured on Dart's in-house CNC machining centers to precision tolerances. The SHP block's siamesed cylinders have a.230" minimum wall thickness at 4.165" bore diameter. Other features include a true priority-main oiling system that ensures reliable lubrication at high rpm, ductile iron main bearing caps (with splayed four-bolt caps on the center mains), .625" thick decks with blind head bolt holes, and clearance for long-stroke crankshafts.

The SHP block retains the first-generation small-block's original dimensions and is compatible with stock components, including OEM-style hydraulic roller lifters and camshafts, steel and plastic timing chain covers, side and front motor mounts, clutch linkage pivots, and mechanical fuel pumps.
