Finally, the conclusion of each event features a celebration to crown all of the winners, and a TGIO [Thank God It’s Over] party that annually overflows champagne and good times.

On November 13-17, 2006, Moroso Motorsports Park will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the prestigious S&W Race Cars 5-Day E.T. Championships. In celebration of the event’s silver anniversary, many special events are being planned.

The highlight of the event will be a $25,000 to win event, which will kick off the festivities on Monday, November 13. That race will feature the largest payout in the history of the Moroso 5-Day and should set the tone for what promises to be a memorable week.

Moroso 5-Day overall points champion and will earn an additional $5,000 bonus for his or her efforts.

On Wednesday, November 15, the Jeg’s Race of Champions will kick off with a free race that is open to all former 5-Day champions, former overall champions, and members of the veteran’s club who have attended all 24 previous 5-Day races. The event will pay $5,000 to the champion and $1,800 for the runner-up. Once again, there is no entry fee for this race.

The action continues on Thursday, November 16, with another special event, the S&W Race Cars “Run for the Dragster.” The winner of this event will bring home a rolling S&W Race Cars four-link dragster chassis, a 540-cid big block Chevy engine from Huntsville Engines, and a load of Moroso parts and accessories. This event is limited to the first 64 competitors who post a $500 entry fee.

This year Moroso will offer a first, when it hosts an eighth-mile race on Tuesday, November 14. The eighth-mile event, which will be in addition to the regularly scheduled $10,000 points race, will feature a guaranteed $5,000 first-place prize and will begin when the quarter-mile main event has 32 or fewer vehicles left in competition. The entry fee for all six events will be just $850 and before each of the races, drivers can “Run for the Money” during time trials each day with a $10 entry and a 50/50 split. In order to ensure a level playing field, the track will also utilize the popular “Cross Talk” starting system for this event.

The 2006 Moroso 5-Day will also feature the unveiling of the Dick Moroso Memorial Award. Fashioned after the popular NHRA “Wally” trophy, the Dick Moroso trophy will be given to each of the winners along with a commemorative jacket. Special photos from the earlier years of the 5-Day will be on display along with keepsake memorabilia. The 5-Day racer goody bags will also return and will be packed full of some great giveaways including the commemorative S&W Race Cars 5-Day license plate, the 5-Day decal, t-shirt and hat. Colorful announcer Hasley Hood, a fixture at major drag racing events since the late 1950s, will return as the event announcer.
