A trip to the chassis dyno a couple of weeks later showed that the overstressed RAM sintered iron clutch could not handle the output of the motor once the turbos started to spool up. At less than 9 pounds, the torque was 1,000 pounds AT THE TIRES, and who knows what the real number would have been, as the clutch was about to grenade!

This all happens below 5400 RPM and a new McLeod twin plate clutch is under construction, which should be good for 1800 HP and all the torque we can throw at it.

The roll-cage on the car is all mild steel and, because of modern safety regulations, this limits the car to 8.50’s anyway.

But this is a street car: it’s got lights, four doors and a tailgate that opens. The 5” Flowmaster mufflers are not too loud, the Lenco is a bear to use and noisy as hell, but you only hear it inside the car!

I took my little boy, Miles, out for a ride in the car (in his Simpson child seat, of course) when we went to the local garage for its New York state inspection. He loved it.

And I am sure Donnie will have great fun on the streets of England with this monster.
