In brief test sessions at No Problem Raceway, near Belle Rose, LA, and State Capitol Dragway in Baton Rouge, Wood says his early impression was that the system works and he’s especially pleased with not yet experiencing any tire shake. “Keep in mind we’ve been low on power since we just want to creep up on the tune-up, but generally when you’re low

on horsepower that’s when you start getting into tire shake. One thing we’re learning is that we have to make some serious adjustments on the valving of the shocks and that’s something I couldn’t have known without the testing. We’re working with Afco right now and they’re helping by designing the shocks that we need for control.”

Inside, the all-carbon-fiber interior features neat little touches like a sword shape cut into the gas pedal, a skull cut into the dashboard and a miniature wooden coffin riding in the back. “We just tried to put lot of little things in it to discover so you could spend a long time looking it over.”

Wood admits to hearing a couple of nervous remarks about his car’s somewhat ghoulish appearance, but stresses it’s not meant to convey an evil or Satanic image.

“I had to try to keep it to where it’s balanced. It has this wicked look to it for sure, but it’s not about the Satan deal by no means,” he says. “The biggest thing was I really wanted something that would just knock the socks off of people when they saw it. I just wanted something really unique, really different and something that the fans as well as the racers would like.”
