When he isn’t racing you can often find him at his shop on Claremont St. in Chicago working on his race car or some other project. The shop itself is a testament to the Greek’s 50-plus years of racing. It is a working machine shop and Karamesines does some job work for local companies.

But it is much more than just a machine shop. If you poke around a little and lift the edge of a tarp you will find and see amazing things. Under one tarp is the Phaeton that the Greek did his first racing with. Under another you can find the engines and drivetrain from his twin-engined car of the early Sixties that he swears he is going to restore.
In the back yard, half-buried in the dirt, is the original rear-end that Bob Stange built for him when he continually was breaking them in the 1960’s. Then there is his office with his desk mounded with trophies from Bakersfield, AHRA races, and all sorts of other memorabilia. You can spend hours just looking at the office and the trophies.
