The Drag Racing Association of Women raises over $50,000 at the annual DALLAS auction held with the assistance of the Meyer family each year at the Dallas Motorplex located in Ennis, Texas. This event has proved to be one of D.R.A.W.’s largest fundraising events. The second fundraising event that took place in October was the Pet contest held in conjunction with the NHRA Toyo Tire Nationals in Reading, PA. The pet contest tends to provide a fun atmosphere for raising money for the organization. The pet award was presented to Debbie Johnson’s pet named Tux. Debbie Johnson is associated with Karen Stoeffer racing. Fellow Board of Trustees member and Division One Coordinator, Pat Shaeffer coordinate this fun filled fundraising event. The event raised over $1,000.
The next exciting event-taking place is the D.R.A.W. annual elections for the Board of Trustees. Six members of the Twelve Board members are elected every other year to maintain a current and good working Board of Trustees. During the month of October nominations and accepted and voting takes place in December. The results are issued the New Year and the first board meeting will take place during the NHRA Gatornationals held in Gainesville, Florida. The organization is preparing for another action packed fundraising event that will take place prior to the NHRA Gatornationals. This event is the annual Florida Golf Tournament. The event takes place the Wednesday prior to the Gatornationals at Ironwood Golf Course held in Gainesville, Florida. So stay tuned for elections results and more news on the Florida Golf Tournament.
