POINTS BATTLE HEATS UP!
In the world of drag racing the points battle heats up in the sportsman and professional ranks during the month of September. Fewer than six NHRA Full Throttle national events remain and fewer than 10 NHRA Lucas Oil divisional events are at stake. The hard work, luck and persistence of drag racers around the country will pay off over these next few months, as the points battle continues.
The Drag Racing Association of Women just completed their next to last board meeting for the year. The next DRAW board meeting and event will take place in Dallas, Texas. The annual DRAW Dallas auction will be held on Saturday, September 26, in the Top Eliminator Club. During this event the DRAW Person of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Organization of the Year will be presented. Shortly after the auction, the DRAW Board of elections process will begin. Six of the twelve board members are up for elections in 2010. This process keeps the board fresh, new, and working together well for the common cause of the injured racer.
Another event being celebrated in September is Grandparents Day. Grandparents are a special part of our lives.Whether your grandparents are still alive and well or part of history, take a few minutes to remember them on Sunday, September 13.
Just prior to the NHRA Mac Tools US Nationals I lost my Great Aunt Mary. She lived to the wonderful age of 92. My mother was raised on a farm in New Jersey with her Aunt Josephine, Aunt Mary and Uncle Carmine. Aunt Mary was the last of the members who lived and worked on the farm, so it is truly the end of an era for our family. I was fortunate to experience a visit with Great Aunt Mary earlier in the year when my daughter and I visited New York City and New Jersey. Now more than ever I cherish the memories of my relatives.
So remember those special grandparents on September 13 and keep watching the points battle in your favorite form of racing.
