The last fundraising event for the Drag Racing Association of Women took place at the 25th Annual O’Reilly Super Start Batteries NHRA Fall Nationals in Dallas, Texas. The annual auction includes an array of memorabilia items. Even in tough economic times D.R.A.W. manages to raise $60,000 to benefit the organization. During my travels to races around the country I hear countless stories from friends and family members of injured racers who have been helped by D.R.A.W.. This past year I have spent some time contacting inured racers and the support D.R.A.W. has provided is an enormous help. For those racers who do not need the financial assistance of D.R.A.W., they appreciate the emotional support during the time of recovery.
On a separate note as Thanksgiving Day approaches in the United States and Canada it is a time to give thanks. Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival. Traditionally, it is a time to give thanks to God for the harvest and express gratitude in general. In regards to the Drag Racing Association of Women we are thankful for the continued support even during these difficult times. We are Thankful that we can continue to provide assistance to injured racers and their families when they need it most.
