DRAW announces awards of the year
There are so many hard working people and companies in the world of drag racing that is difficult to narrow it down to just a few people or organizations to provide awards to. However, this year D.R.A.W. managed to narrow it down to a few who have gone above and beyond for the cause of D.R.A.W.
The D.R.A.W. Volunteer of the Year was awarded to John Cole, who many of you may have sent in the pits, stands and midway selling 50/50 raffle tickets at NHRA national events to benefit D.R.A.W. This volunteer, along with his wife, Diane, has raised $80,000 and walks over 25 miles at each NHRA event they attend. The NHRA event in Dallas marked the 53rd raffle that he participated in.
The D.R.A.W. Company of the Year was awarded to MOPAR for their contributions to D.R.A.W. for their Block Party at the Mopar Mile High Nationals in Denver, Colorado, where the proceeds from autograph sessions benefited D.R.A.W. John Danato of Mopar Performance accepted the D.R.A.W. Company of the Year award.
Finally, the D.R.A.W. Persons of the Year award was presented to the NHRA Media Relations for their excellent work in helping to raise funds for D.R.A.W. Accepting the D.R.A.W. Persons of the Year Award on behalf of the NHRA Media Relations was staff member Michelle Seymour.
The tireless work of the many D.R.A.W. volunteers does not go unrecognized and this once a year event gives the organization an opportunity to provide a special thank you and recognition to those who volunteer their time to the Drag Racing Association of Women.
