On my desk at work I have an inspirational calendar that gives me a thought for the day.  I read a quote today from Goethe, “Whatever you can do, or dream you can, Begin It.”  In many ways this reminds me of all of the women of the industry along with the Drag Racing Association of Women.  I joined the automotive industry upon graduation from college in 1991.  At that time there were few women and the organization Drag Racing Association of Women had just started.  For all intense purposes the organization was viewed as an organization of women who got together for a meeting.  Over time, the racers and the industry began to understand the purpose of the organization and realized it was more than just a group of women getting together.  Over the years D.R.A.W. has become a recognized charity of the National Hot Rod Association community and an important part of the industry.  D.R.A.W. being named the NHRA Southeastern Division Person of The Year is truly an honor for the entire organization and Board of Trustees.

In 2002, I had the pleasure of receiving the Person of the Year for my contributions to the industry through my work for the Drag Racing Association of Women and the Specialty Equipment Marketing Association.  In 2008, I had the pleasure of accepting the award on behalf of the Drag Racing Association of Women.  This just goes to show you that it all starts with a dream and a vision, plus lots of hard work.  Keep dreaming and get out your golf clubs to attend the D.R.A.W. annual Florida golf tournament prior to the NHRA Gatornationals held in Gainesville, Florida on March 12th.
