GANN BACK IN THE GROOVE!

For those of us who follow the NHRA drag racing circuit the name Shawn Gann is well known in the pro stock motorcycle circles. Those who have met Gann are most impressed by his down to earth and truly personable disposition. As part of the NHRA POWERAde tour, the demands of racing can be very difficult. Drivers must balance racing, interacting with fans and meeting with sponsors during an event, which can be very taxing on professional drag racing athletes. It seems as if Gann is never too busy to meet with his fans and make them feel special.

A disruption to Gann's 2007 NHRA POWERAde Tour took place just prior to the NHRA Summit Nationals held in Atlanta, Georgia when Gann was involved in a drag racing accident. During mid-April Gann crashed his

motorcycle while testing at a local racetrack in Farmington, North Carolina. The unfortunate incident caused three skull fractures, knee surgery and bleeding in the frontal portion of the brain. Fortunately, Gann was able to fully recover to participate in the ProCareRx NHRA Super Nationals held in Englishtown, New Jersey and the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio.

During the three-month recovery D.R.A.W. was there to lend emotional support for Gann. Gann said, “The hardest part of being injured was the recovery time. Especially that of watching the NHRA racing on TV and not being able to participate in the event.” Gann is finally back in the groove of the racetrack that is and ready to finish the 2007 NHRA POWERAde drag racing series.
