Make A Difference!
The month of September proved to be a big month for D.R.A.W. fundraising. The Dallas auction was held at the NHRA Texas Motorplex facility courtesy of Debra and Billy Meyer. Debra and Billy Meyer truly helped make a difference with fundraising efforts that gained $60,000 from the auction. The Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was donated by NHRA and Harley-Davidson netted a cool $20,000 for D.R.A.W.
At this event several people were honored who made a difference for the organization. One of the companies recognized was MTS (Mail Terminal Services), who generously donated $10,000 to D.R.A.W. in the month of June 2007, as well as the work MTS does through the sponsorship of Jack Beckman to provide encouraging post cards to our troops. So many people forget the sacrifices these men and women are making for the safety of the United States of America.
D.R.A.W. also recognized Carolyn Ashbee of Goodyear, and named her Person of the Year for her generous support.
Make a Difference Day? Yes, there is such a thing as Make a Difference Day. Make a Difference Day is the largest national day of helping others -- a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. This is observed on October 27, 2007. This can be as simple as lending a helping hand to your neighbors, cleaning out your closet and bringing those items to a local thrift shop that supports various charities, including those who are homeless, or baking some cookies for children in the neighborhood.
