Las Vegas Motor Speed Way, 2013: What a great place to race! Hannah Rickards snapped this photo of the iconic ‘The Strip’ arch which greets every drag racer who makes a pass down this superb Bruton Smith track. The facility in North Las Vegas has served motorsports of all types since the late 1990s.
Each season there are a number of charitable events put on in the area by the Speedway Children’s Charities. Len Rickards (Hannah’s father) who as a young lad attended drag races at Tri State Dragway in Kahoka, MO, put together a group of 10 enthusiasts for the 7 laps around the mile and one half oval track for charity. My wife of many racing seasons consented to ride along, so we were part of Len’s group with our Chrysler 200.

According to statistics, this event raised over $30,000.00 and certainly was a fun time for all of us. Next up on my racing calendar was one of my long time crew men from the Pro Stock days, doing the Richard Petty Driving Experience at the same track, LVMS!
