Just Wondering… Wouldn’t all of us really rather see stock -- and I mean stock! -- appearing Mustangs, Chargers, and Camaros racing in NHRA’s Pro Stock class? Somewhere, somehow this BS of unidentifiable bodies in Pro Stock and Funny Car has got to stop!
Just Wondering… Speaking of the IHRA, am I the only one puzzled and confused by the number of “booked in” circuits IHRA has showcased at some national events this season? Especially when they include regional Pro Mod circuits that run eighth mile. Are they just trying to find what classes draw spectators?
Just Wondering… Do John Force’s sponsors really want him to do “whatever is necessary” to get the cars they sponsor into NHRA’s playoff or the winner’s circle even if it is perceived by the fans that he “manipulated” or cheated? I’m betting they don’t.
Just Wondering… Am I the only one who wonders how you explain to a racer and his crew who worked their collective butts off to get and keep a points lead that it is fair that someone with the talent and finances of Robert Hight goes from being around 300-400 points out of first place with virtually no chance for a championship to third in points in just one race with the help of a teammate and a flawed points program?
Just Wondering… If Robert Hight does end up winning the NHRA Funny Car championship in six races, will that be the greatest come-from-behind championship drive in drag racing history?
Just Wondering… Why the NHRA is offering points for Top Fuel and Funny Cars for setting the national record for ET but not for speed? I thought the purpose going to a 1,000-foot track was make it safe to go as fast as possible in 1,000 feet.
Just Wondering… Why any driver who isn’t in the NHRA’s “Countdown to 1” is awarded the bonus points in qualifying? The points fund only pays the top 10, so those points are basically meaningless to anyone outside the “Countdown”.
Just Wondering… Why is it that Don Schumacher got fined $100,000 for using the “wrong” nitro and John Force got nicked just $10,000 for “touching” an NHRA official? You don’t suppose that the NHRA has an issue with Mr. Schumacher, do you?
Just Wondering… Am I the only one who has noticed that the number of fires, explosions, oildowns, and close finish line races in the nitro classes are about the same at 1000 feet as they were when the distance was 1320 feet?
Just Wondering… Could the four track clocks at zMAX Dragway be set up so that the 8.90/9.90 classes could run four wide and pick a single winner? If so, after watching the fuel cars run four-abreast I’m convinced this is the way to make those classes more appealing to the ticket-buying public and save those racers some time and money!
Just Wondering… There are no NHRA drivers who show more emotion or are more entertaining than John Force and Warren Johnson. Maybe those guys should be hired by the NHRA to tutor other drivers on how to respond to interviewers.
Just Wondering… Am I the only one who noticed how many people left the grandstands at Charlotte after the four-wide fuel car extravaganza was finished and before the finals were run? What does that mean?
Just Wondering… Why the NHRA didn’t have Tom Compton or Bruton Smith trigger the tree for the four abreast fuel car exhibitions as a PR deal? ![]()
