Wondering once moreJust Wondering… Am I the only one who has to stifle the gag reflex when I hear these millionaire racers cite being “obligated” to their sponsors to justify their actions? I don’t pretend to speak for anyone else but myself, but any corporate sponsor in drag racing who pressures, condones, or knowingly allows their team to game the system has lost my business forever. Just Wondering… When a racer in a professional class takes a “dive” to help a teammate win, who gets cheated? Answer: the racer’s opponent and the racer’s fans! Just Wondering… With Ford officially getting involved in the NHRA Pro Stock class for 2010, why hasn’t John Force formed a Pro Stock team and put one of his daughters, Ashley, Brittany or Courtney, in a Mustang? It sure makes sense from a business, promotion, and driver-safety point of view. Just Wondering… Is there a more compelling argument for making all the classes in drag racing heads-up for the sake of the sport than the two most successful series in drag racing currently: Pinks All Out and the ADRL? Just Wondering… What would be wrong with having class eliminations in Stock and Super Stock Eliminators and then combining the cars into three or four heads-up groups like they do at Pinks? The fans have spoken loud and clear that they want first-to-the-finish-line competition … or as we used to call it, drag racing! Just Wondering… Are the current NHRA corporate managers capable of an original thought in regards to the business and sport of drag racing? Just Wondering… If the NHRA is spending money testing a spec fuel motor (as the rumors have it) with a motor combination using a stock 426 ci stroke crank, single mag, single fuel pump and a small blower, why don’t they just consult with one of the 50 or so AA/FD and AA/FC racers that have been using that combination successfully for the last ten years instead of wasting time and money testing their own version? Just Wondering… How long before Pinks All Out comes to NHRA’s Pomona track and does TV in front of 40,000 fans? There appears to be too much money to be made for the NHRA brass to pass on this one. Just Wondering… If the IHRA goes to a match-race format with no series or points for Top Fuel teams, will the team owner/drivers that have been running that series look at building an AA/FC or AA/FD to race since there are now a lot more actual races for those cars? I say they will. |
