DRO: Where do you want your career to go in the long term?

Geoffrion: Obviously I'd like to be POWERade champion. I've finished number two twice and actually went down to the final race of the year with [former teammate] Darrell (Alderman) in the semi finals in '94 to find out who would be champion. I actually won more races that he did that year, but he qualified number one more and didn't go out as early in a few races and he was able to win the championship.

So obviously, that's my main goal, but another goal for me is to win Indy. I had a dead heat in the final there against Warren back in 1993 and he happened to get the win light. That was probably the toughest loss I ever had.

DRO: You've been a long-time Pro Stock guy, but have you ever had aspirations to drive a nitro car?

Geoffrion: A couple of years ago I was actually this close to being in a Funny Car, but you know, my parents are just now getting able to stomach this, never mind a Funny Car or Top Fuel car. They've allowed me to follow my dreams, but they're getting older and I just
think the stress would be something I wouldn't want to put them through. They've accepted Pro Stock and supported me, so I'll just leave it at that. Besides which, I love Pro Stock cars; I love shifting a car.

DRO: So it sounds like you didn't come from a racing family.

Geoffrion: Nobody in my family raced. I wasn't born an Andretti, or a Johnson in drag racing, but I was just fortunate that my father told me when I was young, "Hey, look at it like a credit rating. Don't burn any bridges because you don't know when you're going to have to cross one again." He told me that if you do all your things right and work your way up, you can probably go a long way. But timing is everything; I was just in the right place at the right time.

DRO: Is there anything else that you'd like people to know about yourself or your new team that we haven't touched on?

Geoffrion: Just that I flat-out love driving this new Ford and plan on making all those Ford fans proud. Hopefully we've already made them somewhat proud, but we're going to win races here before long. It's a neat program that we're involved with here.
