Luton becomes first to 3 seconds with Ford Coyote engine

Here’s an unusual view of the run from the engine compartment.

Mark Luton drove the Modular Motorsports Racing Pro Mod Mustang to a 3.87-second pass at Bradenton Motorsports Park. It is the first time a Ford Coyote-based engine ran in the three-second zone. He did it on just the third full pass on the engine.

The MMR Gen X Coyote has just 351 cubic inches but uses a set of factory cylinder head castings from Ford that MMR re-worked, along with Manley parts and a pair of Garrett turbos – and an automatic transmission without a lock-up or intercooler. [03/17/17]
