The FIA/UEM European tour is in Sweden this weekend at Tierp Arena just north of Stockholm, with bumper fields in the pro classes and more than a smattering of NHRA expertise evident in the pits. Headliners so far include Leif Andreasson with the quickest and fastest pass in Top Methanol Funny Car history at a stellar 5.558/259.71, and although Micke Gullquist currently leads Pro Mod with a 5.949 don’t count out Freddie Fagerstrom with a 6.049 from his C-10 pickup truck.
Jari Halinen (FIA Top Fuel Dragster) Jimmy Alund (FIA Pro Stock Car), Manty Bujega (FIA Top Methanol Funny Car), Peter Svensson (UEM Top Fuel Bike), Per Bengtsson (UEM Super Twin Bike) and Fredrik Fredlund (UEM Pro Stock Bike) are the current low qualifiers in the remaining classes after two sessions.
Ivan Sansom and Rose Hughes will bring you snippets at the end of the meeting and a full report in due course, but PPV is available for Saturday and Sunday at www.speedgroup.eu. [6/15/2012]
