Houston’s Royal Purple Raceway is offering a special $25 ticket to fans to help celebrate its 25th Anniversary. The special advance purchase only ticket will be available to fans for Friday admission to the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Spring Nationals presented by Super Start Batteries, April 27-29.
Track officials have reported that tickets for the Darrell Russell Top Eliminator Club are sold out, but great seats are still available in the reserved sections of the grandstands as well as for the new “Starting Line Club,” a premium three-day reserved seat ticket that will allow fans to experience the event from close range and provide all holders with members-only services such as complimentary food and beverages.
Seth Angel, Royal Purple Raceway general manager, also says that fans can expect some new technology to assist with their enjoyment of the race weekend. The track has added a second jumbo video screen near the starting line as well as a second set of scoreboards on the face of the drag tower that sits directly behind the starting line. [4/18/2012]
Friday and Saturday, April 20–21, Redding Dragstrip in Redding, Calif., kicks off Kool April Nights and Kool April Drags with an AA/FC nitro funny car match race. They’ll be featuring Wally Giavia driving his “G-Men” ’79 Dodge Challenger-bodied nitro funny car tuned by Pete Jensen and his Free Mexican Air Force crew versus Jack Wright and his “Joker” Dodge. They will race two rounds on Friday night and two more rounds on Saturday.
The Redding show will have a 7.0-Pro class, West Coast Pro Gas, Pacific Pro Comp, Pro Sportsman, Motorcycles, Street Legals and the “Beast” Jet-car to close out each night. For tickets and entry information go to reddingdragstrip.info. [4/18/2012]
